Leon Brumant - Message from RMT Young Members

On behalf of RMT Young Members, I would like to offer my condolences to the family and friends of Leon Brumant.

I got to know Leon through Young Members events as well as through the London Transport Regional Council. He was a passionate, intelligent, articulate person, who always spoke up for what he believed in and gave meaning to those words through his actions.
I have so many fond memories of Leon. He was warm, friendly, polite and generous. I will never forget our conversations over lunch in the British Library, a place Leon told me was one of his favourites. He always took the time to listen to others and had such a beautiful ability to get people to open up to him. He was always seeking answers and explanation. I remember walking in the rain with him after a Young Members meeting and he insisted I wear his hat to stay dry. He then offered his food to a homeless man. That was Leon, always thinking of others before himself.
Leon was a great person, who helped me in difficult times. He inspired me to be a better person and to challenge my own beliefs, prejudices and fears. I know that many other Young Members feel the same way about Leon and we were all so shocked to hear of his passing. Leon, you were a brave and principled individual and you achieved so much in your short time. I hope that you saw in yourself some of the beautiful things others saw in you. I will never forget you and I was proud to call you Brother. I love you, dude. Sleep well.
