RMT calls for unconditional Tube strike talks with mayor and LU bosses

TUBE UNION RMT today called on the London Mayor and Transport for London (TfL) to enter unconditional talks hosted by the conciliation service ACAS to avert strike action scheduled for later this week.

The union had been invited to talks with TfL earlier this week after London Underground workers backed rolling strike action by over 90 per cent against a below inflation pay offer.

The union also wants to see full staff travel facilities for all tube workers restored to prevent to the creation of a two-tier workforce.

RMT opposed to Tube instructor operator iPad trial

DEFENDING JOBS, PENSIONS & AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/341/23, 15th November 2023), the Union has been in discussions with LUL regarding the Company's plans to introduce a trial of the use of iPads by Instructor Operators on LUL Trains.

This matter has been considered by the National Executive Committee and I have written to LUL to reiterate that RMT is opposed to any such trial of this nature and that the Union considers this move to be a step towards imposing Trains Modernisation.

6% pay offer accepted by Cable Car members

RATES OF PAY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2023 - DOPPELMAYR CABLE CAR (TFL/0001/DCC)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/341/23, 15th November 2023), further negotiations have now been held and the company has proposed an improved offer of 6% backdated to the pay anniversary of May 2023. This was discussed at a meeting of members last week at which a majority were clearly in favour of accepting. Additionally, representatives canvassed the opinions of those not in attendance and this also showed a majority in favour of accepting the deal.
