Resolution to Regional Council: It’s a normal working day!

This resolution, submitted by TfL no.1 branch, was carried unanimously by the July meeting of the Regional Council ...

This LTRC request the RMT announce its disgust at the cold and callous behaviour of the Mayor for London, Boris Johnson.

On the 7th July 2005 London Underground was bombed as well as a London Bus. 52 people lost their lives and more than 700 injured.

This event shocked and appalled the British nation as well as the rest of the world. Many RMT members were at work on the day aside the emergency services. London suffered the trauma collectively.

A MATS Functional Council OSP meeting took place today and after some persistent questioning by the unions it became even clearer management are not doing the Duty Manager grade any favours.

I would like to take this opportunity to make it clear, at the MATS Functional Council OSP meeting on 22/04/2010, the RMT and all other unions involved REFUSED to discuss the job cuts and in fact did not discuss any issue.

Reinstate Anthony Burke!

Bus Inspector Anthony Burke was medically terminated by Transport for London for taking time off following pit bull dog, gun and racial assaults on him at work.

A protest took place on Friday 16th April 2010 outside 200, Buckingham Palace Road, Victoria (pictured).

Resolution: Stop TfL selling off LUOH

The following resolution, submitted by TfL no.1 branch with the last paragraph added as an amendment from Stratford no.1 branch, was carried by the March meeting of the Regional Council ...

This region notes the attempted privatisation of TfL Occupational Health Service and wholly oppose the sell off our members rights to in-house occupational health services.

This is grave news as where this has happened in other parts of the railway industry it has lead to a reduction in treatment for our members and it also leads to a one way ticket to redundancy.

Resolutions: Amendments to LTRC Standing Orders

The following amendments to the Regional Council Standing Orders, submitted by TfL no.1 branch, were all passed at the Regional Council AGM:

1) That there is a ‘timed agenda’ and if the time is ended then a request must be made through the Chair to continue talking on this item.

2) That the EC Member give their report about all matters, the RO give their report about all local issues. That there should be no duplication of items. Once both reports are given then the chair will ask for a show of hands for questions.

TfL no.1 branch organisation report 2009

organiseThe Regional Council Secretary wrote to all branches, asking for their assessment of their branch’s work during 2009, and suggesting that they might address the following points:
- whether your membership grew or shrunk during 2009, and why you think this is
- any problems you have had filling reps’ positions within the branch’s area
- how effective your branch was during any industrial action in your area last year
- what recruitment activities you have organised

Our TfL members are still faced with

  • a three year pay deal linked to an unpredictable RPI figure
  • unprecedented job cuts
  • bullying of reps & activists
  • unfair treatment of members in disciplinaries & medical redeployment/termination hearings

RMT members there have had two days of strike action & have been in dispute for some ten months now.
