Jobs, Pensions and Agreements dispute: RMT members smash Tory anti-union ballot thresholds once again

Dear Colleagues,

DEFENDING JOBS, PENSIONS & AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND

Further to my previous Circular (IR/108/24, 3rd April 2024), the ballot has concluded with members voting as follows:

Are you prepared to take strike action?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:      9782

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                         5285

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:               5112

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                168

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:     5

Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot:      9782

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                         5285

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:               5169

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                99

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:     17

Both of the above results meet the thresholds imposed due the anti-trade union laws and the National Executive Committee has congratulated members on delivering a mandate for strike action and action short of a strike.

All members working for London Underground are reminded of the continuous action short of a strike instruction, which is as follows:

  • Not to familiarise staff who do not usually work at a location
  • No training of staff for roles that are outside of their normal substantive role
  • No undertaking of training that is outside of a member's normal substantive role

This action has been uninterrupted since Thursday 25th January 2023 and London Underground management is well aware that it is taking place. The Company was re-notified today as required by law.

I will keep you advised of all further developments.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
