Dear Colleagues,

DEFENDING JOBS, PENSIONS & AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/072/24, 1st March 2024), the anti-trade union laws mean each ballot mandate only lasts for 6 months so another ballot is now due to keep our action live. Ballot papers were posted on Thursday 28th March so should be arriving in the post this week. The ballot closes on Thursday 25th April.

Our demands in this dispute remain consistent and LUL could resolve it by giving us three simple assurances:

BALLOT PAPERS OUT TODAY

The current industrial action mandate in this dispute will expire in November and therefore it is now necessary to re-ballot you and your colleagues for a historic fifth time in this dispute. It is hugely frustrating. However, if we do not win every ballot, London Underground will have a free hand to attack members jobs, pensions and agreements. We cannot let this happen.

Passenger leaflet: Why stations are striking

We provide an essential service to London. Now our employer wants to make us pay for a financial crisis we didn't create with cuts to jobs and conditions, including pensions.

London Underground station staff are striking on 4 and 6 October to fight for an increased staffing level, and to protect our terms and conditions.

Tube union, RMT will take strike action on London Underground on October 4 and 6 over job losses and safety concerns

strike flag

Tube union, RMT will take strike action on London Underground on October 4 and 6 over job losses and safety concerns.

The union has been locked in a long running dispute over 600 station staff cuts and detrimental working conditions since last year.

Safety concerns have also been raised regarding fewer staff facing higher workloads, more lone working and increased fatigue.

The job losses planned will affect every aspect of the tube including stations and maintenance, leading to the likelihood of more unstaffed stations and a lowering of safety standards.
