Campaigning to repeal the laws that restrict effective trade unionism
SPECIALIST TRANSPORT UNION RMT will lead the fightback against any attempt to impose austerity cuts in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a motion to the TUC today which will be moved by senior assistant General ,Secretary Steve Hedley RMT sets out the programme for that campaigning fightback:
"Congress pays tribute to the key workers of the Coronavirus pandemic who, in protecting our lives and livelihoods risked and sadly lost their lives.
Anti Trade Union Laws Training
Our union is already hampered by very strict anti-union laws, and now the Tory government is planning more, specifically targeting transport workers.
The TUC Disabled Workers' Committee working group on opposing anti-union laws (convened by RMT's Janine Booth) has drawn up this plan.
RMT to protest at Parliament tomorrow over threat to ban transport workers from taking strike action
TRANSPORT UNION RMT has confirmed that it will be staging a protest tomorrow outside Parliament in response to the threat by the in-coming Tory government to ban workers across the sector from taking any kind of effective industrial action.
The provisions for this legislation are expected to be included in tomorrow’s Queen’s Speech and as a result the demonstration has been organised to assemble outside parliament on:
TRANSPORT UNION RMT said today that it will fight tooth and nail plans from the incoming Tory Government to effectively outlaw strikes on the rail and tube networks.
It has been reported this morning that Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is planning to include provisions in Thursday's Queen's Speech that would force workers to run services during industrial action.
General Secretary Mick Cash said:
A motion regarding Anti-union laws has passed unanimously at Finsbury Park and East Ham branches and will be submitted to the regional council.

1. RMT's longstanding demand for the repeal of all anti-trade union laws
2. that this was reaffirmed at this year's AGM, along with support for the Free Our Unions campaign

Following the introduction of the Tories' (Anti) Trade Union Act this year and after listening to our members and reps, I am pleased to announce LTRC is providing "Bite Size" training thanks to Sis Janine who kindly has taken the task to produce training materials as well as tutor herself.
We are planning two training sessions, both of which are free of charge and open to all members.
