Durham Miner's Gala 2012

I am writing to remind you about this year’s Tolpuddle Martyrs’ Festival and Durham Miners’ Gala taking place in a few weeks time.

The date of this year’s Tolpuddle Martyrs’ Festival is the weekend of 13-15 July. This is an excellent and very popular event commemorating some of the pioneers of trade unionism. The procession and rally will take place on the Sunday 15 July.

On Wednesday the 20th of June seven RMT young members met at Maritime House for an informal organising meeting with lunch. It kicked off with a few of us at 1130 with coffee and were joined throughout the afternoon by other young members.

The focus of the day was on what events and campaigns young members could get involved with throughout the year.

Service Control Dispute Meeting To Discuss Options Following Ballot For Industrial Action

Due to the current dispute and the ballot results coming back with a resounding yes we are holding an emergency meeting to discuss what you want management to concede to settle this dispute.

What future protection, guarantees and job options do you want agreed from LU?

Also we need you to decide what industrial action you as the member think is suitable to take if this doesn't happen as the ballot has now given us the legal grounding to do so.

TUC Disabled Workers' Conference 2012 Executive Report

Having attended the 2012 TUC Disabled Workers’ Conference on 30th & 31st May 2012 on behalf of the Council of Executives, we are pleased to submit the following report to the June Statutory meeting, and request that this report be adopted by the Council of Executives and placed in the minutes.

The two-day event was held at Congress House in London, and was attended across the board from within the TU movement, including delegates with a wide range of disabilities which obviously created many organisational challenges. These challenges were well met by the TUC and the conference ran very smoothly.

RMT General Secretary Bob Crow To Join Members At LGBT World Pride 2012 – London 7 July

On 7 July 2012 visitors from around the world will join one million people on the streets of central London to celebrate World Pride 2012 – the largest ever LGBT Pride festival in the UK. RMT will be supporting the TUC’s section of this festival in promoting trade unions to the LGBT community and the wider world as champions of LGBT equality.

RMT/Cuba Solidarity Campaign 10th Garden Party: Wednesday 20th June 2012

There are only 13 days to go until the RMT annual garden party for Cuba (Maritime House, Clapham, London SW4 0JW, commencing 7.00pm).

There are a few tickets left and for £15 each includes a free bar, buffet and music. As usual we will be joined by a number of distinguished guest speakers and Alabama 3 have confirmed they will be playing.
