Fleet Members Balloted To Defend Brother McKoy

London Underground were today notified that we are in dispute and all LUL Fleet members will be balloted for industrial action over the appalling treatment of LU Fleet member Brother Ainsley McKoy.

Brother McKoy has had disciplinary action instigated against him by a COO manager outside their sphere of influence, without any involvement or input from Fleet management. We believe this has serious implications across the whole of Fleet and in particular Call Point Train Maintainers where a manager in another function can feel at liberty to discipline a Fleet member.

Management are clearly trying to play one group of staff against another in order cover up their own unsafe practices. We do not accept the Gross misconduct charge against Brother McKoy and this sets a very dangerous precedent. At the same time we are also in dispute over of the treatment of our Train Driver member who we also believe has been unfairly treated by London Underground. We are a union that will defend all our members regardless of grade.

I urge you to vote overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action short of a strike to send a clear message that we will defend Brother McKoy from this unacceptable treatment by management and demand they apply proper procedures.

Ballot papers will be sent to your home addresses from Thursday 12th June 2014 and the ballot will close on Tuesday 1st July 2014.

If you know of any member who has not received their voting paper by Tuesday 24th June 2014, please contact the helpline on 0800 376 3706 or Head Office on 0207 387 4771 and ask to speak to Industrial Relations.

DEFEND BROTHER MCKOY
VOTE YES FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION SHORT OF A STRIKE

Yours sincerely

Mick Cash
Acting General Secretary
