RMT Olympic Deal - London Overground

OLYMPICS 2012 – LONDON OVERGROUND

Your unions’ negotiating team has been holding talks with London Overground to discuss the proposals put forward by management with regards working and payment arrangements for our members in the run up to and during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. I can report that a final agreement has been reached.

In summary LOROL will require all Grades to be flexible during the Olympic and Paralympic period and in exchange for this flexibility every Grade will be paid a 25% bonus. In addition there will be an extra 12.5% bonus for Fleet, Train Maintenance and Station Staff in the week before the Olympics, the week after the Olympics and the period between the Olympics and Paralympics. Revenue Grades will get an extra 12.5% bonus for the period between the Olympics and Paralympics.

There are also additional amounts paid for working on Rest Days, Saturdays and Sundays. LOROL has assured our negotiating team that the flexibility clauses in this agreement will only be used in an emergency situations and it was a prerequisite from TfL in order receive funding for this deal.

The General Grades Committee has considered this matter and has taken the following decision:

“That we note the negotiated proposals on file and the report from the Regional Organiser. The proposals are a comprehensive package of enhancements for the Olympic period in return for flexibility from our members to enable LOROL to run the enhanced services required.

In light of the Regional Organisers and our Representatives views we instruct the General Secretary to inform the company of our acceptance of the proposals. LOROL members to be advised of the decision in writing and sent a summary of the agreement. Branches and Regional councils to be advised.”

In line with this decision please find attached the LOROL Olympic and Parlympic working and payment arrangements which are presented on a Grade by Grade basis. I would be obliged if you will bring this to the attention of your members.
