Train System Tech Members To Be Balloted Over Unacceptable Pay Offer

From RMT Senior Assistant General Secretary Mick Cash

Further to my previous circular IR/729/13 dated 18th December 2013, branches will be aware that following the referendum, members overwhelmingly rejected the 2013 pay offer. Whilst your union welcomed the move from individual contracts to collective bargaining, your union remains of the view that this offer was unacceptable as, for some members; the offer represented a below-inflation pay rise.

RMT Recommends Members Reject Bombardier Offer

We note the report from our Regional Organiser, and accordingly, we instruct the General Secretary to hold a referendum of our members with a recommendation to reject the offer, making clear that a vote to reject will lead to a ballot for industrial action should the employer not improve its inadequate offer.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised. LU Fleet branch and our representative on this contract to be advised by personal letter.

Bombardier Pay And Conditions Talks Update

We note the report from our Regional Organiser. While we welcome the move from individual contracts to collective bargaining of pay and conditions for Train Service Technicians, the current offer is not acceptable to us because:
- for some members, this represents a below-inflation pay rise
- it removes the enhanced rate of pay for overtime
- it allocates annual leave in hours rather than days, which will result in a loss of leave

We therefore instruct our Regional Organiser to pursue this matter through the appropriate procedure, to secure an acceptable offer.

RMT To Confirm Recognition With Bombardier

We note the correspondence on file, and believe that following the merger of the Services and Product Information functions, the Recognition and Procedure Agreement between RMT and Bombardier should cover all of the merged team.

We instruct the General Secretary to ensure that this is confirmed with the employer.

London Transport Regional Council and LU Fleet branch to be advised.
