Ballot For Industrial Action in Response To Depot Closure

We note the correspondence from London Underground Ltd dated 8 July 2013. We instruct the General Secretary to reply, explaining that the letter of 28 June does not provide us with the clarity and assurances that we seek. Accordingly, and in line with our previous decision Gww 2 July 2013, we instruct the General Secretary to proceed immediately with a ballot for strikes and action short of strikes, to a timescale to be agreed with our LU Engineering branch. A personal letter is to be sent to all members strongly urging them to vote Yes to both questions.

TUC LGBT Conference 2013 - RMT delegates report

Delegates to this year’s 2-day TUC lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Conference 2013 (27th/28th June) discussed a wide range of issues including homophobic hate crime, International LGBT rights, resisting the government’s austerity policy, solidarity for transgender workers, homophobia in sport, and young homeless LGBT people. The conference was well attended, with over 200 delegates. 4 RMT delegates attended the conference, plus a retired RMT member observer.

Both RMT motions sent to this year’s conference carried unanimous.

RMT Pledge All Out Fight To Save Conductor Jobs On London Overground

Rail union RMT today pledged an all out fight, including the use of strike action, following the bombshell announcement that over a hundred guards on London Overground will be kicked off the trains and sacked within the year in the first tranche of multi million pound spending cuts on London's transport services in the wake of the Government spending review.

John will be running the 'National Lottery Anniversary Run' on 21st July 2013 in aid of the Brian Munro Cancer Fighting Fund. The 5 mile course will traverse the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park before reaching a thrilling conclusion on the track inside the Stadium.
