As we move into week three of our safety dispute over LU’s unsafe detrainment process we are happy to inform drivers that our action remains solid. Drivers are to be congratulated for standing strong in the face of LU’s ambivalence to the problem.

Submitted by rmtlondon on 30 January, 2013 - 14:08RAIL UNION RMT warned today that a looming shortage of skilled staff, driven by a failure to invest in training and apprenticeships and the dash to sub out key work to agencies and contractors, will threaten the timetables for future rail projects including the High Speed proposals unveiled this week.
The RMT warning is backed by research by the National Skills Academy for Railway Engineering for the Office of Rail Regulation that was published just a few days ago.
RMT Challenges Government To Come Clean Over Fleet Replacement Meltdown

London Transport Museum is suffering from a reduction over four years of 25% of its grant from TfL - £1.5 million. The Museum is very successful at attracting funding and raising income from its shop, ticket sales, events and sponsorship, but the withdrawal of this grant (an eighth of total funding) has a significant impact at a time when arts funding has been drastically cut. The admission price has risen to £15 and staff, who have just been involved in the fabulous historic Tube 150 steam runs, now wait for news of another reorganisation.

Submitted by rmtlondon on 26 January, 2013 - 00:58We note the material on file regarding our organising efforts on the London Cycle Hire Scheme, in which a majority of workers joined RMT, only for the employer and Community to spike our right to recognition by signing a single-union deal in breach of TUC principles.
We note that this union has raised this matter formally with the TUC, and refer this issue to our Council of Executives to monitor progress with this.
Tube Bosses Make Spurious Excuses For Not Employing Trainpeople Workers

We condemn London Underground’s refusal to offer permanent employment to people who have been working on its stations for up to five years or more
We instruct the General Secretary to:
- continue to demand that LUL fulfil its obligations and offer employment to these workers
- continue to support campaigning and protests in pursuit of this
