Following a resolution from the London Transport Regional Council, RMT's Council of Executives mad the following decision: That our rules and policies have shown this Union to be consistently opposed to far-right organisations such as the English Defence League.
TUBE UNION RMT confirmed today that industrial action involving Tube Lines staff, due to begin tomorrow, has been suspended after LU management took the unprecedented step of cancelling scheduled weekend engineering works in response to the success of previous rounds of RMT Tube Lines strike action.
RMT General Secretary Bob Crow said:
That we note the report on file from the lead officer stating that all planned engineering work scheduled to take place during our proposed strike action is now cancelled.
Further, we note a mass meeting of our affected members is to take place tonight, Wednesday 21st November 2012 at which the assistant General Secretary will be in attendance.
Therefore, we instruct the General Secretary to suspend all strike action planned to take place on or after 0600hrs on Friday 23rd November 2012 and 0559hrs Saturday 24th November 2012.
Derby MP and RMT Parliamentary Group Member Chis Williamson has secured a Commons debate on the Thameslink and Crossrail fleet procurement contracts this afternoon as rumours persist that Government officials are now looking at an alternative on the Thameslink deal which is no closer to sign-off and is clearly riddled with serious contamination 18 months on.
