Workshop: Writing Resolutions for RMT Equalities Conferences

Venue: Unity House

Within the next few months, RMT will hold conferences for young members, women members, black and ethnic minority members, and lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender members.

Members put issues on the agendas of these conferences by getting their branch to submit a resolution. But that can be a bit daunting, so the Regional Council is holding a workshop on how to write resolutions. We will discuss the issues that these groups of members face at work and in wider society, and learn the practicalities of putting it down on paper as a resolution.

RMT Members on Employers' 'Blacklist'

The current issue of "Tribune" reveals that alongside UCATT and Unite members, members of RMT were also victims of the construction industry blacklist.

Officials from the Information Commissioner's Office raided the premises of the Consulting Association in Droitwich in February and found files on over 3,000 building workers which that body kept so that they could vet workers for construction firms.

RMT official Steve Hedley has obtained a 15 page file on himself, detailing how he was sacked from working on the Channel tunnel. After that, he could not obtain work for three months.

Trade Dispute Updates for EDF Energy, Stratford Depot - Alstom, Hammersmith and City Depot and Willesden Green Station Group Members

circular logoThis is an official RMT circular - IR/399/09 dated 13th of November 2009, from General Secretary Bob Crow.

RMT is currently in a number of dispute situations with various TfL employers that will necessitate ballots for industrial action. In addition to this there is of course the company wide dispute with LUL itself and I am carrying out the necessary checks for this ballot and hope to be in a position to report on progress next week.

Regretfully, this process has become even more complicated than before following a High Court ruling against us in respect of a recent ballot we conducted amongst our EDF Energy members.

LUL Rates of Pay and Conditions of Service Dispute

This is RMT's Official circular regarding LUL - IR/334/09 dated 10th of November 2009, from General Secretary Bob Crow.

You will be aware that, following consultation with our representatives, RMT previously decided not to accept LUL’s pay offer and to commence a re-ballot of its LUL Membership for industrial action. I can confirm that our stand prompted Management to arrange a meeting yesterday with all the unions at ACAS.

Protest: Bring Tube Cleaning Inhouse!

cleanersWith GBM's contract being transferred to Initial, who are to further sub-contract it to ICS, Tube cleaners are angry that they are being treated like parcels to be passed around. The only solution is to kick out the contractors and bring Tube cleaning back into an integrated, publicly-owned London Underground.

Join cleaners and their trade union, RMT, in protesting at the offices of LU Metronet, Templar House, 81-87 High Holborn (map here). Bring placards, banners and friends!
