Roy Carey has recently stood down from the role of MATS Rep for Tfl No.1 & LU MATS Branch on 11th May 2015.

The Branch has elected DTSM Lorna Tooley in the interim

We would like to open this position for nominations (for MATS LU Operational grades only)

The nominee must be in attendance at the next meeting to be held on 8th June 5pm at The Crown Pub, 108 Blackfriars Roadd, London SE1 8HW

RMT Begins Process To Elect General Secretary

ACTING GENERAL SECRETARY

Consequent upon the sad and untimely death of General Secretary, Bob Crow, it was necessary for the Council of Executives to appoint an Acting General Secretary.

Following a meeting of the Full Council of Executives on 27th March 2014, the following decision was reached:

“That arising from the unfortunate death of Bro. R. Crow our General Secretary, this Council of Executives appoints Bro. M. Cash as Acting General Secretary until the appointment of a new General Secretary.

RMT Internal Structure Review - Branch Input Concludes

Under Item No. 41, the 2011 Annual General Meeting adopted a resolution to commission an independent review of our internal structure and to report back to the 2012 Annual General Meeting with any recommendations deemed necessary. Due to the proposals regarding a merger between RMT and the TSSA, this matter was postponed while discussions took place.

Major Victory For RMT As Tribunal Finds In Favour Of Sacked Boris Bike Worker Rep

Transport union RMT has today secured a major victory in the Employment Tribunal over the victimisation and sacking of Zack Dahou, a key activist on the Serco Barclay’s “Boris Bikes” scheme.

In a 37 page judgment the tribunal found in RMT’s favour on both of the counts brought by the union, that Zack had been unfairly dismissed and that that dismissal was linked to his trade union activities. There will now be a formal remedies hearing.

This report covers the period from 26 February to 31 May, including Easter and the half-term Whitsun Recess. The House sat for approximately eight weeks during this period which also saw Parliament prorogued as the 2012-2013 session was concluded, and the Queen’s Speech announcing the government’s legislative programme for the 2013-14 session of Parliament was held on 8 May.The Government’s agenda for the new Parliamentary Session was set out in the Queen’s Speech, which along with the Budget and the Comprehensive Spending Review statement at the end of June, clearly demonstrate the continuation of its programme of cuts, job losses, privatisation and attacks on pay, pensions, employment rights, and terms and conditions.
