Defending jobs, pensions and agreements update

23/12/22

DEFEND JOBS, PENSIONS AND AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/275/22, 15th December 2022), members recently retuned another solid vote for the third time in this dispute, which has now been ongoing for over a year. The National Executive Committee has congratulated all members for their steadfast determination to see this matter resolved and defend your jobs, pensions and agreements.

Our demands remain consistent throughout that there will be no changes to the current pension arrangements, no reduction in the existing headcount and no changes to existing terms and conditions of employment.

Going forward, the NEC has taken the decision to seek an update from your Lead Officer following consultation with Reps and a meeting has been arranged for all Industrial and H&S Representatives in the New Year on 9th January in the Indian YMCA, 41 Fitzroy Square, London, W1T 6AQ. The meeting will start at 3pm with the purpose of discussing our new ballot mandate and the next steps in our campaign to defend Jobs, Pensions and Agreements.

To keep you advised, the previous mandate for action expired yesterday so all continuous industrial action is now suspended. The NEC has considered this matter and from 00:01 hours on Thursday 5th January 2023, all members are instructed as follows:-

Not to familiarise staff who do not usually work at a location

No training of staff for roles that are outside of their normal substantive role

No undertaking of training that is outside of a member's normal substantive

· role

I will keep Branches advised of all further developments.
