Advice and Training for Londoners -Project Worker

The London Hazards Centre Trust Ltd. (LHC) was set up in 1985 to advance the public’s knowledge of health and safety and to promote it at home, at work and in the community. It is a registered charity overseen by a board of trustees. It provides advice and training, organises events, campaigns on health and safety issues and publishes a quarterly newsletter, the London Hazard. The trustees, with the help of the Trust for London, are looking to review the LHC’s activities so that it can continue to pursue its objectives effectively in future.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the ability to play a key part in our forthcoming strategic review, lead on a stakeholder consultation exercise and perform the core functions of the LHC. This role might suit a TU Health and Safety representative with branch and/or wider trade union experience

Key qualities will include:

  • Experience or a strong understanding of:
  • Health and safety including current issues
  • UK health and safety law
  • The Trade Union movement
  • Health, safety and welfare issues concerning migrant workers
  • Working in the voluntary/third sector
  • Campaigning
  • Good written and oral communication skills and a creative approach to different ways of engaging the public
  • Sound organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to research and identify emerging needs, responding promptly and effectively
  • Track record of maintaining constructive, supportive and productive relationships with colleagues
  • Good IT and income generation skills
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to implementing equality, diversity and safety at work.
  • Ability to produce a newsletter and update the organisation’s website, social media etc.

Advice and Training for Londoners

The closing date for completed applications is 5pm on Monday 28th. October.

Interviews will be held during the week commencing the 4th. November.

The post is subject to a three month probationary period.

The salary is £28,000 (pro rata) per annum.

The post is part time, 3 days a week.

Annual leave is 30 days (pro rata) per annum.

The post is a 9 month contract.
