RMT to Fight for Tube Lines Passes and Pensions

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

Further to our decision GWW 15th February 2012 we have received a report from the Lead Officer dated 23rd February 2012 and two additional reports both dated 29th February 2012. These reports arise from unanimous decisions of our meeting of 30 representatives attended by the Lead Officer and Assistant General Secretary on 10th February 2012.

The General Secretary is instructed as follows:

  • For the avoidance of any doubt the issue of pensions and passes are no longer linked. The claim ‘’Tube Lines Recognition and Reward – Olympics’, which is the subject of a separate decision – GWW 1st March 2012.
  • That the claim for all Tube lines staff to admitted to the TfL Pension Fund, be linked to our long standing claim for passes and travel facilities – Tube Lines which is:
    • That all staff be given the same travel concessions as those that work for LUL including APD (former Metronet), that being free travel within London and 75% of the cost of travel on the main line railway.
  • Therefore having fully exhausted the machinery on both issues we inform Tube Lines that we are now in dispute with them on these matters and that we will ballot all our members on Tube Lines (including the former Alstom staff employed at the Stratford Marker Depot) for strike action and action short of strike action with the ballot to close following the first post on Monday 16th April 2012.
  • That all members concerned to be informed as soon as possible of this decision by email, text and an individual hardcopy mailing.
  • That Tube Lines pension and passes newsletter be urgently produced detailing our claim together with other propaganda as necessary.
  • That this file is linked to the file ‘’Pensions Dispute – Tube Lines (LUL / 22/2)’’ and that they are renamed ‘’Pensions and Passes – Tube Lines’’.

All TfL / LUL Branches and the LT Regional Council and all Representatives to be informed accordingly.
