RMT shocked and horrified that tube worker was pushed onto the track

RMT response to Victoria station staff incident yesterday ( Tuesday 10th April ) where a member of staff was pushed onto the track

Tube union RMT has reacted with shock and horror to yesterday's incident at Victoria station where a member of staff was pushed onto the track.

The union says that tube staff play a vital role in moving London around and are the unsung hero’s of the capital and that no corners should be cut when it comes to safety.

In yesterday’s attack, a member of platform staff was pushed onto the track in an unprovoked and appalling incident. Luckily the staff member managed to get off the track before the next train arrived.

RMT senior reps attended Victoria yesterday and are in constant contact with LUL managers both to ensure staff are fully supported and that all resources and efforts are going into apprehending those responsible and ensuring this kind of terrible incident doesn’t happen again.

General Secretary Mick Cash said;

"RMT's reaction to this terrible incident is one of shock and horror . Tube staff play a vital role in moving London around and are the unsung heroes of the Capital . They do not come to work to be subjected to assaults and abuse .

"Our safety reps are pressing for all necessary resources to be made available to protect staff and to ensure that safety comes first, lessons are learnt and that there is no repeat of this kind of incident which could have had even more serious consequences. Staff safety must never be left to luck."
