Triangle Benefit Gig

The Triangle Benefit Gigs are being held to support The Triangle Adventure Playground in Oval, which is fighting to stay open after its council grant was cut.

Brixton Jamm is promoting the gig. Their website exlains the value of the playground facing closure:

"Opened in 1957, the Triangle Adventure Playground is the oldest playground of its kind in London and a fully functioning playground costs £111,784 per annum to run.

Open Monday to Friday, during term time and holidays, the playground caters for children up to 18 years old and the adventure playground is central to the activities it provides, with the cabins offering creative arts-based activities and space for social 'hanging out'. With this the only permanent young peoples organisation working in an area increasingly notorious for knife and gun crime, this is a valuable and safe haven for many young people and away from the streets and with the recent riots an example, never has this been so important. "

The second of two nights which will see Jamm come alive with some of the UKs biggest artists, in aid of the Triangle Adventure Playground Association, a haven for local young people. With some of the biggest names in music involved including Adamski, Alabama 3, DJ sets from Basment Jaxx, Freestylers and Stereo MC's, along with an hour of spoken word from legendary Howard Marks (Mr.Nice)-this is one you can't miss!
