London Overground Staff Get Provision For Taxis To And From Work On Extreme Shifts

We note the report from our Regional Organiser, and endorse the agreement reached, providing for taxis to and from home for staff working extreme duties who are unable to use a direct public transport route.

We congratulate our negotiators for achieving this agreement, and instruct the General Secretary to obtain a report summarising the staff travel policies of all London Transport employers.

London and Anglia and London Transport Regional Councils, and relevant branches, to be advised.

Emcor Rail Workers At LU To Be Balloted For Industrial Action As Employer Refuses Olympic Payment

We note the report from our Regional Organiser, and are appalled that Emcor Rail have refused to make any financial offer to our members for Olympics working.

We therefore instruct the General Secretary to immediately conduct a ballot for strikes and action short of strikes, notice to be given today, the ballot to commence on 18 July and close on 27 July, ballot papers to be sent first class, and a personal letter to be sent to all members involved urging them to vote Yes to both questions.

Initial Cleaners at London Underground - Join RMT and help the union win decent pay and conditions.

RMT submitted a claim on behalf of cleaners on the Initial LUL contract, seeking a substantial pay increase, proper reward for the Olympics, and improvements in conditions including sick pay, pensions and travel facilities.

Initial boasts that “people are at the heart of everything we do” and that it aims “to be the employer of choice within our industry” with “fair rates of pay and benefits, excellent career opportunities and a caring and flexible approach” – yet it is expecting cleaners on the LUL contract already on low pay to take a real-terms pay cut.

ISS Cleaners on the London Underground Join RMT and help the union win decent pay and conditions for you

RMT submitted a claim on behalf of cleaners on the ISS LUL contract, seeking a substantial pay increase, proper financial reward for the Olympics, and improvements in conditions including sick pay, pensions and travel facilities.

ISS boasts about its corporate responsibility, that it offers adequate pay and proper working conditions and respects the right to collective bargaining - yet it expects cleaners already on low pay to take a real-terms pay cut. RMT says that is unacceptable. but rather than talk, the company has resorted to dirty tricks, including putting out lies that the union has accepted some sort of unspecified deal after the Olympics - this is complete nonsense!

RMT Members On Southern Trains Vote To Accept Latest Olympics Deal

RMT members on Southern trains have voted overwhelmingly in a referendum ballot to accept an Olympics recognition and reward deal which will see all staff receiving a basic payment of £300 with an additional £28 per day available for rest day and Sunday working and £50 for additional late night turns.

The total reward package is in line with agreements on other London train operators and ratchets up the pressure for a fair deal on South West Trains, Greater Anglia and First Great Western where RMT is balloting for action.

RMT Pledges To Fight Tory Attack On Pensioners Travel

RMT pledges to fight Cameron-ally Nick Boles attack on pensioners travel.

RMT General Secretary Bob Crow said

"Nick Boles speaks for the rotten core of the Tory party when he lines up his attack on pensioners' free travel and other well-earned benefits. He knows full well that means-testing the travel pass would stop many who need it from claiming it - cutting off their lifeline and leaving them isolated from the wider world. The Tory right are using the bankers' economic crisis as a cover to take the axe to core pensioners' benefits and we will fight them all the way.
