RMT Tackles Breakdown of Industrial Relations at Tube Lines DSM

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the detailed resolution from our LU Fleet branch concerning the situation in Tube Lines DSM (Distribution Services). We note that our branch has itemised specific incidents and events which it believes have led to an intolerable situation in the workplace, and requests a ballot for strike action and action short of strike.

We instruct the General Secretary to:

  1. contact the employer immediately advising that we are in dispute and requesting an urgent meeting
  2. prepare a matrix for the industrial action ballot requested

RMT to Propose Confirmation of Bargaining Agreement with CBS Outdoor

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the report from our Regional Organiser. We instruct the General Secretary to arrange for the production of a draft bargaining agreement between RMT and CBS Outdoor which is based on current practice and is acceptable to our Regional Organiser. This draft to be placed in front of us before submission to the company.

RMT to Discuss London Underground Industrial Relations

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the comments received from one of our branches and one of our representatives on Professor Goodman’s report. We note that our London Transport Regional Council is to debate a resolution on this issue at its meeting today, and instruct the General Secretary to place this matter back in front of us once the outcome of this debate is known.

London Transport Regional Council to be advised.

RMT Defends Role of Station Supervisor in Station Access

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note with great concern the report from our Regional Organiser and representatives that London Underground has imposed a change to the rules and procedures for station access, removing responsibility and control from Station Supervisors for allowing access for people working on stations.

RMT Fights for Fair Olympic Deal for All Grades of Transport Workers

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the correspondence from our TfL no.1 branch, and are appalled that this employer intends to severely restrict annual leave over the Olympic period, including banning annual leave during the Games altogether in at least one department. This will make life very difficult, if not impossible, for many of our members, for example those with school-age children. We are similarly appalled at TfL’s totally inadequate financial offer to our members, consisting solely of a £15 payment if a shift is changed.

RMT Accepts Tube Lines Pay Offer for 2013 and 2014

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note that Tube Lines has offered a pay rise of RPI+0.5% (minimum 2%) payable from 1st April 2013 and again from 1st April 2014.

We note that a meeting of our representatives agreed to recommend that the union should accept this offer, and that this is endorsed by both branches with Tube Lines members, and that neither branches nor representatives have indicated that they feel that a referendum of members is necessary.

We therefore instruct the General Secretary to advise Tube Lines of our acceptance of this offer.

RMT to Consult on Support for TUSC in GLA Election

RMT Council of Executives decision:

That we write to all Branches and Regional Councils in the Greater London Authority election area asking if they have any objections to supporting these candidates. We make clear to Branches we are seeking views on the GLA London wide Assembly top up list election and not the GLA constituency election or Mayoral election. A copy of the Trade Union & Socialist Coalition manifesto to also be enclosed in the letter to Branches.

Branch responses to be placed before the Council of Executives on 21st March.

RMT to Improve Website and Develop App

RMT Council of Executives decision:

That the Information and Communication Technology Sub-Committee work with the Communications Department and representatives of the presentation team in order to develop the appropriate technology for developing the RMT website and app.

Regional Councils and branches to be advised.
