Demonstration: Rail Cuts Cost Lives

URGENT: Rail Cuts Cost Lives

Demonstration at Network Rail Office, Kings Place, 90 York Way, London

To coincide with the Network Rail maintenance ballot result and to publicise the massive amount of MPs who have signed the Early Day Motion condemning Network Rail’s proposed cuts and the threat to safety, the RMT has called a demonstration outside the Network Rail Offices in central London. I do appreciate the short notice, but we’d like you to be there as part of a loud and colourful demonstration.

Resolution: Stop TfL selling off LUOH

The following resolution, submitted by TfL no.1 branch with the last paragraph added as an amendment from Stratford no.1 branch, was carried by the March meeting of the Regional Council ...

This region notes the attempted privatisation of TfL Occupational Health Service and wholly oppose the sell off our members rights to in-house occupational health services.

This is grave news as where this has happened in other parts of the railway industry it has lead to a reduction in treatment for our members and it also leads to a one way ticket to redundancy.

Resolution: Adverse Weather Conditions

The following resolution, submitted by LU Engineering branch and seconded by Hammersmith & City branch, was carried unanimously by the March meeting of the Regional Council ...

This Region opposes the requirement that staff take annual leave if they were unable to get to work during "adverse" weather conditions

The recent guidelines from Howard Collins are unfair in some respects to all staff.

Resolution for LTRC: PTAC (Privilege Travel)

This resolution, submitted by LU Engineering branch and seconded by Camden 3 branch, was carried by the March meeting of the Regional Council.

We hear reports month after month of the increases in the cost of Travel; but we were always protected from these increases by Staff Passes and the PTAC.

Since the PPP and the privatising of the National Railway we have expected attacks to get rid or erode these privileges that we have acquired through united struggles led by our Unions.

Training: Auditing and Increasing RMT Membership in Your Area

Venue: Exmouth Arms, Star Cross Street, near Euston

This workshop is a must for all workplace RMT representatives, and for branch officers. We are more effective at everything we do if we sign up as many members as possible and keep our membership information up-to-date. this is especially true since recent legal rulings have placed even greater demands on unions when it comes to information.

This training workshop will look at:

  • identifying who is and is not a member in your workplace
  • persuading non-members to join
  • keeping membership details up-to-date

Canvassing Day: Support John McDonnell MP

Bob Crow writes ...

Dear Colleague,

Support John McDonnell MP, Convenor RMT Parliamentary Group

I would like to encourage all RMT activists in the Greater London area to join the mass canvass for John McDonnell MP, Convenor of the RMT Parliamentary Group on Sunday March 14 from 10:30 to 13:00 in his Hayes and Harlington constituency.

Over the years he has been the leading RMT voice in Parliament, John has shown himself to be a tireless campaigner and friend of this Union: this is a chance for RMT members to help a hard-working socialist in his constituency, who is under pressure from the Tory challenger.
