DLR members furious as bosses try to bulldoze in worst working practices

RAIL UNION RMT confirmed today that over 300 staff across all grades on Keolis Amey Docklands Light Railway have voted by massive majorities for both strike action and action short of a strike in a dispute over a range of serious unresolved issues that are wrecking industrial relations.

Over 92% voted to strike with an even larger majority for action short of a strike.

The key issues at the heart of the dispute are:

LU Stations and the 4 Day Week

The General Secretary has written to all RMT members on LU to explain that LU has made it clear that all staff covered by the pay offer can discuss the specifcs of a compressed working week at functional level.

I would like to make it clear that the longer shifts that would be necessary for a four day week are already possible within our stations framework and this is why no refferendum of station staff is taking place.

RMT to hold referendum on four day week proposal for Tube drivers

When RMT entered the London Underground pay talks, one of our original demands was a 4 day, 32 hour week with no loss of earnings. LUL has dismissed this. A counter proposal came from staff side for a 4 day 36 hour week. LUL said that this could only be achieved if the same amount of handle turning time is completed over 4 days as it was over five. This will inevitably involve changing the Trains Framework Agreement. Simple arithmetic shows working that four eight-hour shifts is never going to equal a 36 hour week.
