Waterloo Interserve Cleaners Strike To Get Paid On Time

Staff at Waterloo Station to strike for a third time on Friday over victimisation and bullying
Following two earlier phases of rock solid action last month, cleaners employed by Interserve, looking after the busy and internationally famous Waterloo Station in London, are to strike again from friday over a comprehensive breakdown in industrial relations relating to a whole range of fundamental issues including;

  • the unwarranted victimisation and dismissal of RMT members
  • ignorance of basic employment rights and failure to follow agreed procedures
  • underpayment of wages

Interserve's Culture Of Bullying Leads To RMT Strike Ballot

BREAKDOWN OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS – INTERSERVE (LUL SSL/BCV CONTRACT) (LUL/14/2)

Since Interserve took over the contract from Initial, things have seriously deteriorated for members. Your Union met with senior management on 5th November where we outlined a significant number of problems with the way they are dealing with their employees.

Mistreatment of Staff and Abuse of Power by Supervisors and Management

RMT cleaners - special dispute meeting

As you know Interserve have taken over the contract from Initial and it hasn't taken long for a dispute situation to arise.

The issues we are in dispute are as follows;

Pay being withheld deliberately - we have already had 1 walkout over this.
Discrimination
Abuse of the machinery
Bullying and harassment by management
Victimisation

Our cleaner reps and activists are not prepared to stand idly by and let management ride roughshod over their members.

RMT To Ballot Carlisle Members on The Docklands Light Railway

IMPROVING PAY & CONDITIONS – CARLISLE CLEANING & SECURITY (DOCKLANDS LIGHT RAILWAY) (DLR/10/1)

In December 2013, we entered into dispute with the Company over a breach of our agreement regarding implementation of the London Living Wage and following the threat to take industrial action, a settlement was reached, including a pay increase for all members and a commitment that all staff on all contracts will be paid at a rate at least equivalent to or above the London Living Wage from commencement of the new franchise (Circular No. IR/42/14, 30th January 2014).

Locked Out Cleaners Return To Work

Further to my previous Circular No. IR/246/14, 19th September, members voted overwhelmingly in favour of taking industrial action. Following this result, extensive talks have taken place under the auspices of ACAS and we are now in a position that allows our locked out members to return to work with dignity, including a hardship loan from the Company for those that need it. The options that have been given to individuals returning are as follows:-

RMT Seeks Legal Advice On ISS Plan

‘That we note the responses from the Relief Regional Organiser South, Finsbury Park and Edinburgh No.1 Branches along with legal opinion. It is the Union’s view that the proposal by ISS could be deemed as unlawful and therefore we instruct the General Secretary to inform the Company of our rejection of their
amendment due to breaches of section 10 of the Employment Relations Act 1999.

Relevant Branches and Regional Councils to be advised.’

RMT Preparing Ballot Of Locked Out Cleaners

Our members working for ISS on the London Underground Contract have been in dispute with their employer for many months over the use of a Biometric Fingerprinting to book on for duty. We had been in talks with the company but now this process has been imposed by the company on our members. As a result of this imposition, our members have been reminded of the union’s instruction that they should refuse to use the Biometric technology and should continue to use the agreed manner to book on.
