Report to RMT Women's Conference 2016: ETF Women's Committee

WHAT IS THE ETF?

The European Transport Workers’ Federation, linking transport trade unions across Europe. RMT is one of several UK affiliates.

Its Women’s Committee includes nominees from various countries and sectors. I am a member of the Committee for the term 2013-2017.

PRIORITY CAMPAIGN 1 – VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN TRANSPORT WORKERS

Despite having no funding for this campaign, we have been able to take a couple of useful initiatives:

UNION REP VACANCIES

Vacancies currently exist for the following positions:

Industrial Rep-Harrow Train Crew Depot (Train-side)

Health and Safety Rep-Willesden Green (Station-Side)

If you are interested in applying for any of these positions, please contact the Branch Secretary or attend the next branch meeting on Wednesday 23rd March.

Please note that the Health and Safety position which was being advertised for Neasden Train Crew Depot (Trainside) has now been filled.

RMT taxi demo Whitehall 9/2/16 @ 1330

In the long running dispute with the Mayor, the RMT taxi branch are organising a demo/go slow around Whitehall and the Houses Of Parliament on Wednesday from 1330.

These demos have had a massive impact on London on the previous occasions they have taken place

We are asking any RMT reps/activists who are able to get down to Whitehall with flags, banners and hooters to give support to our taxi driver comrades.

Solidarity Wins

"SAY YES TO SAFETY ON THE TRACK SAY NO TO SECTION 15"

Further Incidents:

Less than 24 hours after talks broke down with LUL regarding Section 15 Possessions, there have been two further incidents underlining the warnings that the RMT gave that the whole process has casualised safe track access to such a point that serious injury or death was becoming inevitable.
