Agency “disguised Employees” – London Underground

A resolution was recently received from Jubilee South Branch regarding the above and this matter has been considered by the General Grades Committee, which has taken the decision to investigate the use of “disguised employees” by Interserve and other companies in TfL/LUL (reference LUL Engineers Charter and article by GS in January RMT News ‘Fighting Casualisation’) and to produce a report on this worrying pract

Thales Strike Ballot - Vote Yes

Further to my previous Circular (IR/061/15, 2nd March 2015), the Company has been informed that a dispute situation now exists over the proposed changes to the Services organisation as part of the GTS Optimisation Programme. The proposals include compulsory redundancies and those members left at the Company will be facing worse rosters, shift patterns and terms and conditions. RMT put forward strong counter-proposals during discussions but it is clear that the Company has no intention of changing their plans.

From RMT Senior Assistant General Secretary Mick Cash

rates of pay & Conditions of service 2014 – Balfour Beatty (Ruislip) (LUL/0001/BBR)

Sale of CBS Outdoor

We note the information on file regarding the history of the ownership of this contract. This shows the succession of private companies which have profited from this area of work only to dispose of it once they lose interest. This reaffirms our view that contracting-out should be ended and all Transport for London activities returned to direct TfL control.

RMT Prepares race To The Top For Cubic Workers

We note the report from our Regional Organiser and the correspondence from the employer.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised. LU Engineering branch and our Cubic representative to be advised by personal letter.

RMT Insists 'Protection Masters' Be Directly Employed

We note the report from our lead officer and branch secretary. We note that the individual cases are now concluded.

We reaffirm our insistence that all duties associated with protection should be carried out by directly-employed staff, and are alarmed at the apparent backtracking by the company on this matter.

We instruct the General Secretary to ensure that this is pursued through the machinery of negotiation, and also to table this for discussion at the next meeting of the London Underground Briefing Forum.

Thales Transport And Security Section Of The Railways Pension Scheme

From RMT General Secretary Bob Crow

I refer to my previous Circular NP/205/13, 5th August 2013, please be advised that Thales managements proposal to increase member contributions midway through a triennial valuation has been rejected by the Railways Pension Scheme Trustee Board.

This is clearly good news for all members of the Thales Pension Scheme who were affectively facing a pay cut had managements shameful proposal been accepted by the trustees. In consideration your General Grades Committee made the following decision on 10th October 2013:
