RECRUITMENT AND ORGANISATION

  • Drivers' campaign
    • target named depots - arrange visits - Org Unit to come on visits
    • launch drivers' newsletter - Brian Munro to assist Trains Council reps
  • Monthly training workshop
    • run July's workshop of Recruitment, Retention and Organisation again if branches willing to host (Dave Rayfield)
    • August: workshop on Agreements: why they are important and understanding what they mean (Olly New, Mick Crossey)
  • Cleaners
    • cleaners grade to meet and agree written strategy, the resources will be made available to carry it out

COUNCIL OF EXECUTIVES REPORT

Noted:

  • latest on LUL/TfL dispute
  • DLR: new offer from management
  • Olympics
  • review of LUL grievance procedure
  • Bakerloo drivers request ballot re Kevin Dobinson sacking

Agreed:

  • If Executive has not produced leaflet for public by end of week, Regional Council Secretary volunteers to do it if Executive pays
  • to establish all-grades health & safety committee (Unjum Mirza to convene)
  • Olly New to discuss with Bob Crow expulsion of BNP members from union

REGIONAL ORGANISER'S REPORT

Issues:

  • big increase in bus members - branch or organiser required
  • LUL/TfL dispute organisation
  • reallocation of reps between locations
  • CBS Outdoor

NEXT REGIONAL COUNCIL MEETING

Agreed to include the following resolutions on agenda:

  • Reverse Privatisation
  • Fighting the BNP (agreed to action the last line, as will be out of date by the time of the Regional Council meeting)

Noted that LU Engineering's resolution on cleaners was the property of the Executive / spheres of influence meeting, not of the Regional Council

FINANCE

  • Agreed to make submission to Council of Executives for additional funding due to exceptional demands that current dispute places on the Region (Damian Franklin, Janine Booth)
  • Political Officer to urgently ensure repayment of £650 donation to United Campaign Against Police Violence as agreed at May's Executive meeting (Unjum Mirza)

OTHER BUSINESS

  • Anti-BNP demo - agreed to pay for members' seat on coaches organised by Trades Councils etc
  • Reparations conference - agreed to promote; agreed to guest speaker at August Regional Council meeting
  • Posties' strike, Friday - all urged to actively support
