Branch motion: LU & Tube Lines Ballot For Olympic Working

Submitted by LU Engineering branch

The GGC have decided that the RMT will not agree any breaches to the framework agreement either forced or voluntary.

Our council of executive member has sought legal advice that we cannot be forced to break the frameworks; however it is possible that LUL will produce their own legal advice to the contrary. This may lead to our members being singled out by management and disciplined for refusing to obey a reasonable instruction regardless of legal opinions. This branch believes that we need a mandate for action short of a strike to protect all our members in the event that LUL and TubeLines try to make them break the framework agreements.

We therefore request that General Secretary conducts a ballot for action short of strike action for all our members on LUL and TubeLines and produces propaganda to ensure the largest possible yes vote. This will ensure that our members are protected from management pressure to break framework agreements during the Olympic period.
