DLR Staff Ballot for Action

Circular No. 289/08, Thursday 11th December 2008

IMPOSITION OF ROSTERS – CONTROL ROOM, SERCO DOCKLANDS

Members working in the DLR Control Room for Serco Docklands will be balloted for strike action and industrial action short of strike due to their management’s insistence on imposing new rosters.

Management have taken the decision to implement new rosters which will remove the 12 hour weekend shifts replacing them with 8 hour shifts, thus creating a situation where members in the Control Room will lose 24 rest days per annum, management plan to impose the new roster on 5th January 2009.

RMT can not accept such a blatant attack on our DLR member’s conditions and have therefore taken the decision to ballot affected members for strike action and industrial action short of strike.

The opening day of the ballot is Tuesday 9th December 2008 and the ballot closes on Monday 22nd December 2008, if you are aware of any members who are entitled to vote but have not received a ballot paper by Wednesday 17th December 2008, please can they contact the member’s helpline or the industrial relations group directly.

Yours sincerely

Bob Crow GENERAL SECRETARY
