What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

New Strike dates for Central and Victoria lines

Subject: BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, TRAIN OPERATORS, CENTRAL LINE – LONDON UNDERGROUND

New Replacement Strike Dates/Times

According to the reps meetings wishes; we now instruct all affected members to take Industrial Action in the form of a Strike by not booking on for shifts between:

20:00 hours on Tuesday 3rd September until 20:00 hours on Wednesday 4th September 2019.

Further, that we note that the ballot mandate is due to expire in September and our concerns around chronic understaffing, draconian use of the attendance and disciplinary procedures, obstruction of our representatives, breeches of agreements and undue pressure and bullying of our driver members have not been adequately addressed by the company.

We therefore instruct the General Secretary to conduct a ballot of all Train Operators and Operator Instructors on the Central Line for both:
Strike Action and Actions Short of a Strike in the form of an overtime and rest day working ban.

We remain open for talks.

Members to be advised by email and text.

Central Line East & Central Line West Branches and the London Transport Regional Council to be advised.
