What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

CLEANERS

ISS (LU)
Tube Lines renewed contract - RMT objected, but unfortunately, not enough campaigning done
new attacks: Bradford factor; fingerprinting; longer unpaid breaks - balloting for strikes and action short on these
also: immigration swoop; buy a week's leave
significant membership increase due to organising work (150 -> 200)
National campaign
further co-ordinating meeting to take place

LONDON TRANSPORT MUSEUM
planning to cut 6 FTE jobs
need to step up campaigning
meeting TSSA
discussing industrial action

TRAINPEOPLE / AGENCY STAFF
resolution from Bakerloo asking for ballot across London Underground: branches to be 'actively canvassed' for views
Northern Rail (largest TOC) - RMT to ballot all grades over the use of agencies - crucial dispute with implications across the whole rail industry - intention to spread to other companies

TUBE LINES REINTEGRATION
Project staff -> LUL; admin/support -> TfL; rest to remain in Tube Lines
transferring staff not to be allowed to join TfL Pension Scheme = attack not just on these members but on every member and potential member of the TfL Scheme.
recommend: table to every employer under Transport for London demand that they support the admission of all their employees to the TfL Scheme as full members -> co-ordinated dispute - could be tied to dispute about use of agencies, as the common theme is united reintegration

EQUALITIES

Domestic violence model policy
sent to lead officers to send to all employers
London launch in May
Disability
TUC Disabled Workers’ Conference: seeking RMT delegates; submitted RMT resolution on Autism in the Workplace; holding RMT/TSSA fringe meeting on Neurodiversity/autism in the workplace
24th April - Day of Action to highlight impact of rail cuts on disabled passengers
