RMT Demands Proper Consultation on Service Control Move to Hammersmith

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the report from our Regional Organiser outlining our representatives’ concerns about lack on consultation about the planned transfer of SSR and Piccadilly Line service control to a new control centre at Hammersmith. We note that our Regional Organiser has called a meeting open to all service control members on 31 January.

We instruct the General Secretary to:

  • obtain a report of the Joint Working Party meeting due to take place on 19 January;
  • obtain copies of all documentation received by our representatives and place it on the file;
  • place copies of all relevant agreements on the file;
  • ascertain from our representatives what further information they require in order to be able to negotiate and be consulted effectively, and write to London Underground insisting that the company provide this;
  • should London Underground fail to provide any information considered necessary by our representatives, to obtain advice as to the company’s legal obligation to do so;
  • ascertain from London Underground whether it has carried out an Equality Impact Assessment of its plans;
  • obtain a report from our Regional Organiser on the views expressed at the service control members’ meeting on 31 January;
  • prepare a summary of the possible impacts on our members and a timescale of the proposed changes, based on the information currently available to us.

Reports and correspondence to be placed in front of us at the earliest opportunity.

London Transport Regional Council, branches with London Underground members and all LU service control representatives and to be advised.

We rename this file TRANSFER OF SSR / PICCADILLY LINE SERVICE CONTROL TO HAMMERSMITH – LUL.
