RMT Stands Up to Bullying at Thales

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note that our LU Engineering branch reports that following our decision to challenge Thales management last year about a bullying culture at Waterloo, the company took the following actions:

  • began to investigate the complaints both formally via a grievance and informally
  • implemented regular site visits by Human Resources to encourage staff to come forward with complaints etc
  • started to implement management training.

Our branch believes that this has led to a sea change and a vast improvement in treatment.

RMT to Fight for Tube Lines Passes and Pensions

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

Further to our decision GWW 15th February 2012 we have received a report from the Lead Officer dated 23rd February 2012 and two additional reports both dated 29th February 2012. These reports arise from unanimous decisions of our meeting of 30 representatives attended by the Lead Officer and Assistant General Secretary on 10th February 2012.

The General Secretary is instructed as follows:

RMT Considers Tube Lines Pay Offer

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

We note the proposal from Tube Lines to extend the current 3-year pay deal for a further 2 years, increasing wages by RPI+0.5% (minimum 2%) from 1 April 2013 and again from 1 April 2014.

We instruct the General Secretary to obtain a report on the views of our lead officer, representatives, branches and members about this proposal, and to place this report in front of us by 31 January.

London Transport Regional Council and branches to be advised.

Yunus Bakhsh

Council of Executives decision:

That we note this is a case of a trade union member taking action against his former union (UNISON) in an employment tribunal.

We therefore do not authorise this as a legitimate use of branch funds as this was a request from LU Engineering Branch and we should not interfere in the in internal affairs of another union.

Hizen Kendo Charity

Council of Executives decision:

That we authorise the Branch (LU Engineering) that it is legitimate for them to use their B.M.F if they wish to support this charity.

RMT Accepts Cubic Pay Deal

RMT General Grades Committee decision:

That we note the report from our Regional Organiser on file and accordantly instruct the General Secretary to inform the company of our acceptance of the offer.

Further we instruct the General Secretary to liaise with our LU Engineering Branch to organise a recruitment drive at Cubic Transportation.

Relevant Branch and Regional Council to be informed.

Special Meeting 6th December,1700-Christopher Alder Campaign

Important Meeting-Christopher Alder Campaign.

Christopher Alder, a former paratrooper, died in police custody in 1998.
Now, eleven years after his death, it has come to light that it was not Christopher Alder at all who was buried in the family grave but the body of an elderly woman named Grace Kamara who died of natural causes in 1999.
The mix up was only discovered when members of Grace’s family asked to see the body before it was buried.
