Advice on dealing with suspect packages

**URGENT ADVISE FOR ALL RMT MEMBERS ON LONDON UNDERGROUND & TfL!**

SUSPECT PACKAGES

RMT consider it important to note that there has been no changes to Government guidance around HOT procedures, and instructing staff to open or tamper with suspicious packages is contrary to CURRENT Government guidance and may put staff and the travelling public in serious and imminent danger.

The current Government guidance advises that if, after following the HOT protocol a member of staff considers an object to be suspect, they should take the following actions in this order:

Rail union RMT responds to London Overground ticket office and staffing proposals

Responding to London Overground ticket office and staffing proposals plans, RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said;

"RMT is deeply concerned about the proposals which in our view could see the elimination of ticket offices across London Overground. Our experience in the past shows that, despite promises to the contrary, the closure of ticket offices leads to the wholesale destafiing of stations with serious consequences for safety and security.

RMT on Parsons Green station explosion

General Secretary Mick Cash said;

"RMT is aware of the incident at Parsons Green this morning and the unions safety reps are awaiting further facts from London Underground. The union is supporting our members at this time.

"The incident shows once again that tube staff are the first responders in emergency situations and the clear need for safety and security to remain the number one priority and for the resources and staffing to be in place to deal with all eventualities."
