RMT Drivers Vote YES in Ballot Against Compressed Week Plans Once Again

Further to my previous Circular (IR/243/26, 8th July 2026), the ballot has now closed and the result is as follows:

 

Are you prepared to take strike action?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot: 1719

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                                      1050

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:                       937     

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                        112     

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:           1

 

Are you prepared to take industrial action short of a strike?

Number of individuals who were entitled to vote in the ballot: 1719

Number of votes cast in the ballot:                                                      1050   

Number of individuals answering “Yes” to the question:                       978     

Number of individuals answering “No” to the question:                        71

Number of spoiled or otherwise invalid voting papers returned:           1         

           

Both of the above results exceed the required thresholds and the National Executive Committee has wholeheartedly congratulated members on delivering a ballot mandate for strike action and action short of a strike.  I will keep Branches advised of all further developments.
