Central Line East branch raises concerns over 'HOT' procedure, air quality and safe drinking water on tube

We note the resolution from our Central Line East Branch regarding the breakdown in the reasonable treatment of our members in relation to palatable drinking water, the serious health & safety issue for staff and the travelling public regarding the matter of the air quality which exceeds the expert recognised safety limits, and the appalling disregard for the safety of staff and public in relation to London Undergrounds insistence on introducing a HOT procedure that completely breaks with established and current approaches to dealing with suspect packages.

DfT has NOT driven or endorsed London Underground's revised HOT procedure

Further to our decision NWW 11.7.17, and upon further examination; we consider it important to note that there has been no changes to Government guidance around HOT procedures, and instructing staff to open or tamper with suspicious packages is contrary to current guidance and puts staff and the travelling public in severe and imminent danger.

RMT congratulates DLR members as new machinery of negotiation agreed

MACHINERY OF NEGOTIATION – KEOLIS AMEY DOCKLANDS (DLR/0005)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/204/17, 17th May 2017), the meeting with the NEC, SAGS, RO and Reps has taken place and following final amendments to the revised machinery of negotiation, the negotiating team recommended its acceptance.

RMT to issue guidance to members on dealing with suspect devices

TUBE UNION RMT said today that it is to issue new guidance to members in dealing with suspect devices as the union pledged again to resist attempts by London Underground to water down safety and security procedures.

Proposals by LU bosses to tamper with the existing processes have sparked a furious reaction from RMT members and reps – particularly in light of the North Greenwich bomb incident.

As a result, RMT’s executive has agreed the following:

Mass meeting called for service control members

TO ALL LUL SERVICE CONTROL MEMBERS

URGENT MASS MEETING OF SERVICE CONTROL MEMBERS CALLED

An urgent meeting of all Service Control staff has been called for 10am on July 24th 2017 in the Boardroom, Unity House and all RMT Members in these grades are urged to attend.

The purpose of the meeting is to address the unparalleled assault on Service Control staff’s terms and conditions as well as the marginalisation of your Functional Council Reps who have been sidelined and precluded from key discussions and negotiations concerning your future terms and conditions.

We instruct the General Secretary to advise the company in writing of our immediate acceptance.

Relevant members to be advised by email and text.

The Docklands Light Railway Branch and London Transport Regional Council to be advised.

Local Discussions on Rosters to Incorporate 325 New jobs to Start

Local reps will now be scruitinising LU's proposed new rosters that will include the 325 additional jobs promised as part of our ACAS agreement following our fantastic strike action in January.

You can download LU's proposal.

There is still some work to be done before we can be happy with the proposals to address lone working and roster balance but significant progress has been made.

Speak to your local rep for more detail about what is proposed for your area.
