RMT LGBT Conference 2012 Motions

There were six motions at the LGBT conference this year. All were passed. The motion "International LGBT Rights" and "Diversity Role Models: tackling homophobia through education" were voted to go before the unions AGM. The others will be discussed by the unions Executive.

TUC Mass Demonstration – 20th October

The TUC is organising a mass demonstration in London under the banner of “A future that works” on October 20th this year. RMT will be participating fully in this mobilization, as part of our wider strategy of opposing the cuts.

It is essential that the RMT contingent is as large as possible in order to demonstrate the seriousness of our opposition to Government plans to slash jobs, pay, terms and conditions, employment rights, and pensions alongside the services we all use.

Olympic Talks Between RMT And London Underground Progress At ACAS

Your negotiating team met with LUL under the auspices of ACAS yesterday. The company has not changed its financial offer, and has proposed that in the event of duties remaining uncovered by volunteers at any location, the level 1 committee will meet to resolve it. There is no proposal to change Framework Agreements.

RMT LGBT Conference 2012 Report

RMT LGBT Conference at Jury’s Inn, Southampton 18th May 2012 Report by Jo Parry.

A total of 23 delegates took part in this year’s conference the largest delegation that I can recall in the last few years. (29 were registered to attend). 7 delegates where from London Transport Region. 4 female delegates were on the list to attend; however, yet again I was the only female delegate to actually turn up.

Guidance Notes For Duty Allocation Over The Olympics And Paralympics

RMT Trains Functional Reps have created a guideline for Olympic duty allocation. You can download it below and distribute.

  • What happens if I am not allowed in to take part of the allocation?
    • If you are not allowed in the allocation for whatever reason, inform your manager that it is the level 1 committees remit to carry out this task therefore you being part of that committee should be involved, and management and ASLEF should not continue with this process unless you are allowed in.

RMT Women's Lunch

Station staff, drivers, engineers, cleaners, admin, underground and overground, full-time and part-time, ... RMT women from all over London met to discuss issues and campaigning plans over lunch on 3rd May. The event was a big success, and will soon be followed by an East End women’s history walk and picnic on Saturday 23rd June. RMT Slams Latest Government Attacks On Worker’s Rights

Transport union RMT today slammed leaked reports that venture capitalist, Tory-funder and Cameron oppo Adrian Beecroft is preparing to publish a study recommending a full-frontal attack on workplace rights.

Beecroft, who has funded the Tories to the tune of a half a million pounds, has been set up by Cameron to be his out-rider for attacking worker’s rights in the same way that McNulty was tasked with doing a similar number on the railways.

London Underground Facing Prosecution Over Runaway Northern Line Train

London Underground and Tube Lines are to be prosecuted by the Office Of Rail Regulation following a runaway engineering train on the northern line.

Back in August 2010, the defective engineering train ran backwards through six stations after it separated from the train which was towing it off of the line.

A collision with a passenger train was averted thanks to the quick actions of control room staff and train operators on the day.
