ABM Cleaners' ballot organising meeting

Dear Colleagues

JUSTICE FOR TUBE CLEANERS

As you know we are balloting our ABM members for strike action to secure Staff Travel, proper Sick Pay and a decent Pension for all.

The ballot opens this Monday 28th October with a closing date of Tuesday 19th November 2019. Myself and our National Executive Committee member, Andy Littlechild are calling a meeting for all Branch Secretaries and Chairs on Monday 28th October commencing at 14.00 hours in Unity House.

London Underground Pay 2019: RMT responds to latest offer

Dear RMT members,

Today myself and our reps met LUL to discuss pay 2019. The company made the offer as attached.

We immediately responded by saying that the RMT would seek to meet all our reps to discuss the offer. Therefore we cannot formally respond in this update. However, I stated that all pay deals in LUL are RPI linked in the past. Also, any banked rest days can only be taken in line with our agreements.

We still have some way to go in these pay talks.

As soon as our NEC has considered the position there will be a further update.

Pay Talks update: Tube bosses offer slight reduction in working hours as RMT keeps pressure on

RMT representatives met London Underground management today at ACAS.

Significantly, LUL management has now agreed that they share  RMT’s aspiration to reduce working hours for all LUL staff.

LUL management made a revised verbal offer, to be confirmed in writing:

Red Tabards: real issue is lack of staff, not lack of visibility

The RMT's Regional Organiser John Leach has written to London Underground to highlight our ongoing concerns about red tabards following an article in LU's propoganda magazine 'On The Move.'

John Leach wrote to remind tube bosses that we remain in dispute and to request a meeting about claims made in the article.

RMT receives new pay offer from Tube bosses

- The latest pay offer from London Underground is attached to this article.

Dear RMT members,

A new revised pay offer has been sent out London Underground. This offer has not been discussed, but follows on from last week's pay talks.

The RMT executive committee will discuss the offer soon and give the RMT position on it.

There is still nothing from the company for members covered by Tubelines collective bargaining arrangements.

I've told LUL we are available on the 5th of June.

The offer has been put in the public domain by London Underground.

London Underground Pay talks update

Dear RMT members 

Today myself with RMT reps, and the other Trade Unions met LUL face to face for the 6th meeting we’ve had in this years Pay talks.

Despite our strong representation in the meeting the company made no revised/ improved  offer. Rather they once again pleaded poverty. We told them in no uncertain terms that our members would not be paying for either the government or the mayor's financial starvation or incompetence.

At the end of the day long meeting LUL said they were preparing a revised offer and that they would send it to us next Thursday 30th.

RMT sets out Transformation process demands

London Underground are attempting to ram through a new swathe of job cuts and are walking all over our agreements to do it! This is happening in the following areas: Track Access Control, Power Control, Service Control, LUCC, Skills Development, Waste, Pumps, Stations Buildings & Civils and Signals Incidents.

The RMT's London Transport Regional Organiser John Leach has written a letter to the Head of London Underground Employee Relations.

RMT have secured 550 cleaner jobs on ABM

RMT Secures 550 Jobs

I am pleased to announce that RMT have secured 550 cleaner jobs on ABM the chosen London Underground cleaning contract supplier.

This is an important victory in the fight for jobs and workplace justice for London Underground cleaners as the TFL contractors ABM were forced by a sustained campaign of union pressure to reinstate 550 posts into their headcount.

Since the details of common principles for all work-streams were agreed, we have been working on the details of 18 separate work streams - examining the possibilities and consequences of individual pools – this has slowed progress significantly as the workload is considerable. Furthermore and more importantly, we have tabled counterproposals and challenged the designs put forward to us as well as arguing points of principle.

Another RMT victory for ABM cleaner members

Dear member,

This afternoon we met with the Deputy Mayor of London.

The Deputy Mayor has advised me that the removal of contractual sick pay for the ex Vinci TUPED into ABM cleaners ( who had been in receipt of it before the TUPE) has been reversed. This clear injustice has been rectified by the determined effort and activities of the RMT.

We now of course will redouble our efforts and continue the fight for all ABM cleaners to recieve proper Sick pay / Travel benefits / better pensions and pay as well as justice at work.
