Tube bosses give zero assurances at ACAS

17th June 2022

TO ALL RMT MEMBERS AT LONDON UNDERGROUND/TRANSPORT FOR LONDON

Dear Colleagues,

DEFENDING JOBS, PENSIONS & AGREEMENTS - LONDON UNDERGROUND / TRANSPORT FOR LONDON

Further to my previous correspondence, I am writing to you following talks at ACAS attended by your representatives.

Your lead officer has reported that TfL have point-blank refused to provide any of the assurances that your union is seeking whatsoever. After the ACAS talks it was later revealed in the media that a condition included in the funding settlement for TfL is an expectation that TfL will produce recommendations for long-term pensions reform. While management have been writing to members claiming that there are no plans to attack your pension arrangements it has been starkly revealed that this is not the case.

Your National Executive Committee has met to consider the matter and noted that the strike action called across London Underground coming just three days before the latest government support to TfL expires is the only option available for members who wish to defend jobs, pensions and agreements. LU Stations representatives have recommended that further discussions and strategising with members and reps concerned take place.

Accordingly, your NEC has instructed that the matter is considered once more by Tuesday 28th June 2022, and a report will be provided on the new funding arrangements between TfL and the government. The views of members and reps will be considered as part of our strategy to fight this attack on members once the funding agreement is known, and all options will be considered.

Having considered the new developments in this matter your NEC has instructed that the industrial action short of a strike in the form an overtime and rest day working ban that had been called from 00:01 hours on Wednesday 22nd June 2022 is suspended.

Therefore, our LUL Station and Revenue Grade members (Area Manager, CSA, CSS, CSM, Duty Revenue Control Manager, Revenue Control Inspector, Revenue Control Officer) are instructed to work normally from 00:01 hours on Wednesday 22nd June 2022.

I urge all LUL members to stand firm in the upcoming strike action and make clear to London Underground you will not be treated with contempt and stand firm in this dispute in defence of your jobs and agreements.

London Underground members are instructed NOT TO BOOK ON for any shifts that commence between: -

00:01 hours and 23:59 hours on Tuesday 21st June 2022

STAND FIRM TOGETHER - SUPPORT THE ACTION

SUPPORT YOUR UNION

I trust this keeps you fully advised and I will of course keep you updated on all further developments.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Lynch
General Secretary
