Changes to CDP

Your Health & Safety commitee reps have recently attended a meeting with Learning and development with regard to changes to the Continuous Development Program. We were initially concerned that management were going to try to cut / water it down. This appears not to be on the cards at the moment. Although we still have issues with a number of lines only getting the 4 day rather than the 5 day to complete this vital refresher training.

Today (23/11/17), your reps met with London Underground to begin Transformation consultation. We were presented with a number of slideshows, which were a condensed version of the business case. These covered Power & Electrical, Signals, Track, Stations Buildings & Civil, Asset Systems & Reliability, Network Planning & Services and Asset Operations Admin.

Yesterday (22/11/17), your reps met with London Underground to begin Transformation consultation. We were presented with a slideshow, which was a condensed version of the business case. Unfortunately, as with all other work streams, the number of people in scope, as well as the potential job losses, did not match on any of the documents the company have given us.

Skills Development Transformation

On Monday 20/11/17, your reps were due to meet with London Underground to begin Transformation consultation. Unfortunately, the company scheduled three meetings on Monday and Skills Development was due to be the third. Despite us raising our concerns that they were not allowing enough time for each meeting, these were ignored to suit the management team consulting on Skills Development.

Operational Admin Transformation

On Monday 20/11/17, your reps met with London Underground to begin Transformation consultation. The company did not schedule enough time for a meaningful meeting to take place, however we were able to look over a slideshow, which was a condensed version of the business case.

Establishment Planning Transformation

On Monday 20/11/17, your reps met with London Underground to begin Transformation consultation. The meeting was less productive than we would have liked because management had reneged on agreed information that they were to share with us, as well as not sticking to the agreed agenda, including what we view as them trying to stop us having time to meet our members who are in scope.

Tube Bosses leaving stations unstaffed

Tube bosses are leaving stations unstaffed during traffic hours. It will come as no surprise to those of us who work on the Tube, but the 'revelation' was described as an exclusive by BBC London News today.

The BBC report states that:

"Four years ago today Transport for London (TfL) announced all London Underground ticket offices would be shut.

ISS KAD DLR strike ballot called after company disregards union's serious concerns

We note the report from the Lead Officer and correspondence from our Docklands Light Railway Branch; and that despite the union declaring a dispute back on the 4th October 2017, undertakings and promises made in talks by the company and prompts from our DLR Branch; that the company is disregarding our serious concerns and security issues.

This breakdown in industrial relations recklessly embarked on by the company is matched and exceeded by our members resolve to have their concerns addressed to their complete satisfaction.

Strike ballot called over Christmas working arrangements

We note the resolution from our LU Engineering Branch regarding the appalling treatment of our members in Asset Operations when it comes to recognising the severe impact that Christmas working has on family life.

We also note that payments are available for all or part of this period in other areas such as Major Projects, Tube Lines and for Train Drivers and this NEC agree with our branches demand at least parity and recognition for working these days.
