RMT accuses Tube bosses of playing fast and loose in pay talks as union steps up preparations for a ballot

Tube union RMT today accused London Underground bosses of stringing staff along and playing fast and loose after an eighth day of pay talks yesterday failed to lever any king of meaningful offer out of the management side.

The union says it is both angry and frustrated at what it sees as blatant delaying tactics and is now stepping up preparations for a strike ballot across the tube network.

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said;

RMT fighting for 'proper pay award and genuine improvements to your terms and conditions'

Dear Colleagues,

RATES OF PAY & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 2019 - LONDON UNDERGROUND

As you are aware, RMT is currently in dispute with LUL over the lack of a forthcoming suitable pay offer from the Company and LUL is aware that we are currently preparing to ballot you all for industrial action, up to and including strike action across the network, over this matter. We have made it abundantly clear to the Company that we will not rest until all LUL members get a proper pay award and genuine improvements to your terms and conditions.

Further to my previous Circular (IR/240/19, 13th June 2019), ballot papers were posted to members on Monday 24th June and the closing date for the ballot isTuesday 16th July 2019. If any member has not received their ballot paper, please ask them to contact the RMT Helpline on 0800 376 3706 or the RMT Switchboard on 0207 387 4771 and ask to speak to the Industrial Relations Department.

Ballot for strike action of all Victoria Line drivers to be conducted

BREAKDOWN IN INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, TRAIN OPERATORS, VICTORIA LINE - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/14/2)

Further to my previous Circular (IR/112/19, 20th March 2019), I advised the Company that a dispute situation exists over breaches of the attendance at work procedure; unlawful deduction of wages; attempts to derecognise the SSTO grade at the lowest level in the machinery; breaches of the framework agreement including enforced and imposed overtime; unacceptable noise levels on the line and undue pressure and bullying of Drivers from Service Control Management.
