Circular No. NP/168/24

Dear Colleague,

RMT 2024 POLITICAL FUND BALLOT

The law says all unions must have a separate Political Fund if they want to spend money campaigning on issues that have a political content.

“RMT’s own research has also found that 40 per cent of women public transport workers have been sexually harassed.

Dear Colleague

Meeting with British Transport Police

I met with the Chief Constable and other representatives of British Transport Police (BTP) yesterday afternoon.

At this meeting, BTP emphasised their commitment to protect the safety and wellbeing of passengers and railway staff during the current country-wide wave of violence fuelled by the far right.

RMT welcomes government's intention to repeal Minimum Service Levels legislation

Rail union, RMT today welcomed the Labour government's intention to repeal Minimum Service Levels legislation.

The formal repeal of this draconian law will be part of the upcoming Employment Rights Bill.

In the meantime, Ministers are asking departments and employers not to use the legislation and to seek dialogue with trade unions on current disputes.

RMT Hammersmith & City Branch Meeting tomorrow (7th August 24) followed by Mass members meeting re Pay Talks.

Just a reminder that tomorrow it is the H&C Branch Meeting as usual at 1500hrs. This meeting will of course be GOING AHEAD as planned.

I will be encouraging urgent business and reports only. Your Branch officers request that any correspondence or business that can wait until Septembers branch meeting does so. This is because of the all members meeting at 1600hrs (in the YMCA nearby) that many RMT H&C Branch members will want to attend.

This mass meeting is regarding the LUL Pay Talks, and full details can be found on RMT London Calling.

RMT offers solidarity in stand against far right violence

Mick Lynch Talks At Demo

Dear Colleague,

UPDATE: FAR-RIGHT VIOLENCE

Further to my earlier circular today (NP/196/24) we have become aware that there could be further demonstrations planned by far-right groups aimed at mosques and refugee centres in the coming week.

We are therefore asking members where possible to be in contact with their local mosques, refugee centres and solidarity groups to offer our union's solidarity and support on the ground at a time when they face severe threats and intimidation.
