Ballot to Strike Called Over Rate of Pay for LUL Staff

As you will be aware, RMT has been in a dispute situation with LUL for most of this year. There have been several areas of dispute including this year’s pay claim, breaches of agreements and threats to jobs.

Strategy to Defend Stations & Revenue Jobs

This resolution, submitted by Stratford no.1 branch and seconded by TfL no.1 branch, was passed unanimously by the October 2009 meeting RMT's London Transport Regional Council.

This branch / Regional Council endorses and will carry out the following strategy for defending stations and revenue jobs:

I just signed up to The People's Charter. A charter laying out a vision of what I would describe to be a fairer Britain. The charter lays out a number of aims. These include tight regulation of the banking sector and fairer taxation in order to ensure wealth is distributed more fairly, decent homes for all, renationalisation of key services such as transport, water and energy and other key areas where intervention could close the wealth gap in society and ensure everyone has a decent standard of living.

Subsea 7 in Race to Bottom over Terms and Conditions

Whilst not directly related to London Region members, this situation is something that is happening widely and demonstrates the methods that already profitable companies will use to increase profits further at the expense of their workers and out brothers and sisters in the RMT

OFFSHORE ENERGY union RMT today slammed the major subsea engineering and construction company Subsea 7 for engaging in a “race to the bottom” on pay and conditions through the hiring of cheap, overseas labour which has put jobs and conditions in the North Sea field under threat.

This training workshop, led by Malcolm Taylor, Staff-Side Secretary of London Underground's Stations & Revenue Council, is a must for all local representatives.

London Underground pay dispute - Back into action!

bloke in chicken suit with placardA well-attended meeting of London Undergroud RMT reps today voted unanimously to reject the company's miserly pay offer of 1.5% this year and RPI+0.5% next year. The meeting also voted by a majority that the union should seek the agreement of members for further action, through either a new industrial action ballot or a referendum on the offer with a recommendation to reject it.
