Resolution: Service Control Apprentices

This resolution, submitted by Neasden branch and seconded by Hammersmith & City branch, was passed unanimously at the November 2009 meeting of the Regional Council.

This Branch condemns the callous attitude shown by Management, particularly HR, towards apprentices and ex-apprentices and other groups of members in Service Control. The Management aim is to redeploy these members despite being promised jobs in Service Control.

SEPTEMBER’S RESOLUTIONS

National Young Members Advisory Committee – Formation as per Rule Book

The General Secretary refused to accept this resolution for the agenda of the Council of Executives, as it attempted to “instruct” them to ensure that the union’s rules are carried out and a Young Members’ Advisory Committee properly established. Recommendation: we resubmit this resolution with the phrase “This branch instructs” replaced by “This Regional Council requests”.

Future of the Jobs/Pay/Justice Dispute

Emergency Resolution: CWU Dispute

This resolution, submitted by LU Engineering branch and seconded by TfL no.1 branch, was passed by the October meeting of the Regional Council.

That the region condemn the use of scab labour to undermine the just CWU dispute. We call on the council of executives to support the CWU, financially, politically and through the TUC to defeat this tactic.
