Defending activists

The RMT always defends members, activists and reps from management attacks. We won't let the bosses make hostages of members during disputes, or to unfairly attack us at any time.

The disgraceful treatment of employees continues unabated.

The disgraceful treatment of employees continues unabated.

Our cleaners all over the combine are having to contend with bullying and intimidating managers who routinely abuse agreed policies and procedures including;

• Grievances unheard
• pay illegally deducted
• pay slips not provided
• victimisation
• race discrimination
• targeting of RMT trade union reps for their trade union activities.

Monday's Tube Strike On As LU Management Wreck Acas Talks

Strike action on the Northern Line over the victimisation and sacking of a driver will go ahead from early Monday as planned after ACAS talks broke down last night due to a complete failure of the management side to engage in any serious discussions which could have led to a negotiated settlement.

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said:

"The ACAS talks, which RMT had been calling for with the objective of reaching a fair and just settlement in this case, have broken down due to a total refusal of the management side to engage in any kind ‎of meaningful discussions.

In The Press: Northern Line Tube Strike

Northern Line tube drivers are to take industrial action on Monday morning (December 1st) to demand the reinstatement of Alex Mcguigan who was sacked as a result of a flawed alcohol test. Alex is a type two diabetic, a condition which can quite often result in a false positive test result for alcohol. This is well documented medically and there is also legal precedent supporting his case. Because of this his test ought to have been followed by a confirmation urine test to ascertain whether his illness had in fact influenced the test, resulting in a false positive.

Tube Drivers Vote By Over 75% For Strike To Defend Bro McGuigan

DISMISSAL – A. MCGUIGAN – TRAIN OPERATOR – MORDEN, LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/4/1)

Further to previous Circular No. IR/282/14, 23rd October 2014, the ballot has concluded and the result is as follows:-

Campaigners fighting union-busters SODEXO to link up with Orgreave justice fight in London on Friday

ACTIVISTS FROM transport union RMT, fighting union-busting outsourcing outfit SODEXO, will be linking up with campaigners from the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign in central London on Friday as both organisations seek to apply pressure for justice in their respective campaigns.

RMT will defend our sacked members

Reinstate unfairly sacked workers, Noel Roberts, Alex McGuigan and Vicky Hayward

RMT have pledged to defend 3 of our members who have been sacked by LUL

Noel was dismissed under capability, even though he was fully fit for work and hadn't had a day off sick for over 10 months.
For more info; http://www.rmtlondoncalling.org.uk/node/5227

Alex was dismissed for failing a breath test. LUL were aware he has type 2 diabetes and the probability of registering a false positive was known. But LUL destroyed the urine sample that would have given a definitive answer.

Reinstate Vicky Hayward!

London Underground Ltd has sacked Bank group CSA Vicky Hayward, despite having no evidence against her.

Vicky had an accident at work. But a manager decided that he did not believe her, and says that the CCTV did not show the accident. But neither Vicky nor her rep were able to see the footage, which was destroyed.

If LUL gets away with this, it could be you next time.

REINSTATE PETRIT MIHAJ- SODEXO WORKER SACKED FOR TRADE UNION ACTIVITIES

After the reps meeting at Conway Hall all reps and activists are being asked to come down to the Sodexho HQ in Holborn for a demonstration against a union busting employer.

There can be no greater sacrifice a Trade Union rep can make than to be sacked entirely for Trade Union activities.

An ET has found 100% in favour of Petrit, absolute no fault against him.

This is a unique case. Normally the employer can point to some area of misconduct they use to dismiss.

RMT Motion Highlights Concerns About Treatment Of Brother Moriarty

This Branch calls upon the General Grades Committee to instruct the General Secretary to raise with LUL at highest level the ongoing treatment of Brother Jason Moriarty.

The Branch is concerned that LUL management are acting maliciously by giving credence to numerous and ridiculously false allegations against our member.
