Jubilee Line to join Night Tube strike action

IMPOSITION OF NIGHT TUBE DUTIES, TRAIN OPERATORS - LONDON UNDERGROUND (LUL/2/3)

Further to my previous Circular IR/010/22, 13th January 2022, and following the successful ballot of all LUL Train Operators late last year, members took part in solid industrial action and members on the Central and Victoria lines have continued to take action each weekend to date.

However, due to the anti-Trade Union laws, the current ballot mandate is due to expire again. The National Executive Committee congratulates all Train Operator members for their steadfast opposition to the imposition of Night Tube duties and has taken the decision to conduct a re-ballot over this issue, which remains unresolved.

Ballot papers will be posted out on Wednesday 11th May, and the closing date of this ballot is Tuesday 7th June. If any member does not receive their ballot paper please contact us by calling the freephone Helpline on: 0800 376 3706, or by emailing: info@rmt.org.uk

Also, following the Company's announcement to reintroduce Night Tube on the Jubilee Line later this month, the RMT Lead Officer has consulted Trains Reps and the National Executive Committee has taken the decision to call strike action against this service as our dispute remains unresolved. All RMT Train Operators, Instructor Operators and Night Tube Train Operators at North Greenwich, Stratford and Wembley Park Traincrew Depots are instructed NOT TO BOOK ON for any shifts that commence between:-

  • 20:30 hours on Saturday 21st May to 04:29 hours on Sunday 22nd May 2022.
  • 20:30 hours on Friday 27th May to 04:29 hours on Saturday 28th May 2022.
  • 20:30 hours on Saturday 28th May to 04:29 hours on Sunday 29th May 2022.
  • AND REPEATING EACH WEEKEND UNTIL SUNDAY 19TH JUNE

I urge you all members to support this action on the Jubilee Line to continue this fight and show LUL management that we will not accept changes which would destroy work life balance and lead to dangerous levels of fatigue. RMT remains available for talks to resolve this dispute based on our 2016 agreement that no member would be forced to work Night Tube shifts and no member will work more weekends. So far LUL has shown only contempt and intransigence regarding this matter and I will of course keep Branches advised of all further developments.
