London Underground Fleet members to be balloted over pensions dispute

22nd January 2016 Circular Num: NP/029/16

Dear Colleagues,

TUBE LINES – ACTION ON PENSIONS

Please find below a resolution submitted by the LU Fleet Branch:

“The feeling of the members regarding parity of pensions has gone on for far too long. We feel the time is right to ballot all Tube Lines members on the pensions issue.

We strongly believe that no agreement should be implemented on Pay or Night Tube until this long standing issue is resolved. (No Pensions, No Night Tube).

We therefore instruct the NEC to ballot our members for strike action and action short of a strike as soon as practicable.”

This resolution was considered by the National Executive Committee on 21st January where the following decision was made:

“That we note the resolution from our LU Fleet Branch and the sentiments.

LU Fleet members strongly believe that no agreement should be implemented on Pay or Night Tube until this longstanding issue is resolved (No Pensions, No Night Tube) and call for a ballot of all affected members.

Accordingly, we instruct the General Secretary to advise the company that we are in dispute, and to carry out a ballot of our affected grades for strike action and action short of strike commencing on the 28th January 2015 or at the earliest opportunity.

All further developments to be placed back before us.

LTRC & LU Fleet Branch to be advised.”

I will keep you informed of developments.

Yours sincerely,

Mick Cash

General Secretary
