What is a National Executive Committee decision?

This article is an 'executive decision' which has been written by the RMT National Executive Committee. The National Executive is the union's governing body in between AGMs. Its decisions set out what the union will do on a particular issue.

These decisions can often be brief, and may be one of several passed over a period of time. To get a better understanding or find out more information about what the RMT is doing, speak to your rep or attend your branch or Regional Council meeting.

Meeting called to discuss assaults on Tube staff and work conditions

Subject: TERMS AND CONDITIONS, STATION STAFF – LONDON UNDERGROUND

That we note the resolution from our Neasden Branch and that consultation has now occurred with branches in the London Transport Region who are fully supportive of a move to a ballot for industrial action in the forms of Strike Action & Actions Short of a Strike if the company does not come to terms with this union.

We will not tolerate our members being assaulted at work, being left out to dry by the company or the company’s attempt to opportunistically use their abandonment of our members to then bring in a new un-negotiated grade of RCO; effectively closing off one of the last lines of promotion for Stations grades and the dragooning of CSA2’s to undertake the work of CSA1’s, both of which manoeuvres lead to our members being paid inferior salaries.

Therefore, we instruct the General Secretary to arrange a meeting without delay of all Stations IR Representatives, Stations Functional Council, Lead Officer, Senior Assistant
General Secretary with members of the NEC in attendance.

Members to be advised by email & text.

All operational London Underground branches & the London Transport Regional Council to be advised.
