What is a National Executive Committee decision?

Subject: VIOLENCE AT WORK – EAST HAM BRANCH LOCATIONS

We congratulate our workplace representatives and East Ham Branch for campaigning and organising this ballot when the company had just abandoned our members to their fate; and our members for resolving to protect themselves and each other through their unions lawful democratic processes.

We note that the ballot result for action short of strike is as follows:-
Total votes cast 52 ( 68%)
Number voting “Yes” 49 ( 94.2%)
Number voting “No” 3
Spoilt Papers 0

The 40% and 50% thresholds were both met.

We instruct all affected members to:

  • Work from a within a place of safety when lone-working and not to detrain alone or attend incidents on trains alone; from 00:01 hours on Friday 27th September 2019 until further notice.

We instruct the General Secretary to ensure all necessary assistance and support to our members.

Further, we instruct the General Secretary to arrange a meeting of our East Ham Branch H&S Representatives, Branch Officers, Stations & Trains Safety Council, Lead Officer, Senior Assistant General Secretary and members of the NEC to consider the potential life-threatening situation affecting our members across the Tube combine.
